Staying in the Deluxe Suite was a great choice for our short getaway. The suite overlooked the river and provided a lovely setting to unwind after exploring the nearby Fenced Acre and Pingles Pit, both within a short distance. I particularly enjoyed the spacious layout of the suite, which included a cozy sitting room and a well-equipped bathroom. The overall environment was serene, making it a perfect spot to relax for a night.

Charming riverside retreat
The Anchor Hotel surprised us with stunning river views from our deluxe king suite. The communal kitchen was a gem, stocked with everything we needed for our meals, and the delicious breakfast was a highlight. The atmosphere is cozy, making it easy to unwind after a day of exploring.
The location is quite remote, which made dining options limited as we had to drive to the nearest town. We found the road leading up to the hotel poorly lit, so a flashlight is handy for evening walks.

We had an amazing stay with our extended family! The kids loved playing table tennis while we enjoyed relaxing in the gorgeous little back garden. The shared kitchen was fully equipped, and we really appreciated the lovely touch of the flowers in the room.
My kids wished there were more nearby dining options.

It was just a great fit for a getaway in Mepal, great for the money. The lovely bathroom with candles made it feel special. Make sure to bring a flashlight for the poorly lit road when you go out in the evening.

The location is idyllic, right by the river with beautiful views across the countryside, creating a peaceful atmosphere. The facilities really shine, especially the charming old building that adds character, and the cozy pub atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing evening. I loved the quality of the bedding and linens in my room, which contributed to a comfortable stay.
The parking situation was a bit tricky, which made arrival and departure less convenient.

The location is wonderfully peaceful, perfect for unwinding with a scenic view. The communal kitchen was a highlight, fully equipped for self-catering, and the complimentary treats in the room added a nice touch. it's important to note that the atmosphere leans more towards a restaurant with rooms than a traditional pub, which limited relaxation spaces. With only a few local dining options, keep in mind that the food can be on the pricier side if you're staying multiple nights.

Couples seeking a cozy escape
The food was a standout, that roast beef was generous and full of flavor, truly a meal to savor. Plus, the staff were nice, always on hand to help with anything we needed, even brought us extra gravy which made the Yorkshire pudding all the more enjoyable.
It wasn't exactly low-cost, but for the quality and experience, I’d say it’s fair.
